Have you ever found a product online that you so desperately wanted, but couldn’t afford? That was my situation when I found the Book Beau company. I knew right away that I wanted one, but I had no money to pay for it. I finally had some spending money to buy a Book Beau, so that’s what I did. I went online and bought two Book Beau’s for myself. They’re both in different size and in looks.
The things that I’m surprised about are:
- the shipping;
- the packaging;
- the sizes;
The one thing I’m not surprised about is the currency exchange. Yikes.
I’ll admit that I haven’t actually brought my BB’s out and about. They are, unfortunately, not waterproof. The bag I use isn’t waterproof either, and I live in a rainy climate. Add those three together, and unless I have an umbrella with me…They might get ruined. So I haven’t wanted to chance it. I don’t want them to be ruined!
After I had purchased the Book Beau’s I legitimately told myself to forget that I even bought these because I was sure that they wouldn’t arrive for a while. They’re made in Texas for Pete’s sake! I don’t know if it’s because there was a Christmastime-y sale going on or what, but I got these pretty quickly! The date of shipping was December 26th, and I checked my mail on January 6th. So sometime in between those 10 days it was shipped and delivered across a number of states in the USA, crossed the border into Canada, and made its way to me! I didn’t think they would arrive here so quickly!
The packaging was a normal bag-type packaging. I don’t know how to describe it, haha. When I opened the bag though, I was pleasantly surprised. The BB’s were wrapped up in this vibrant blue tissue paper! They were wrapped so plainly, it was so simple. The look overall was incredibly elegant.
The sizes I bought were in XL and Indie. I thought that there would a discernable difference in sizes, but there really isn’t. Until you put a book inside the sleeve.
- XL Size: “The XL size is perfect for your bigger reads! (8 x 10.5 approximately)”
- Indie Size: “is perfect for your paperbacks and smaller hardcovers. (7.5 x 10 approximately)”
Total pricing?
Pricing will always depend on when, and how you buy. When I bought my BB’s the prices were as follows: Classic Spice BB XL was $25.00USD. Skulls – Indie was $20.00USD. I’m not entirely sure about the shipping pricing, but altogether the purchase cost was somewhere around $58.00 USD. Change all of that into CAD and it was $72.00CAD.
Am I happy with my purchases?
I’m extremely happy with my purchases. Even though the USD to CAD roll over dollar rate is something to cry about (I could have bought like 7 paperback books IN STORE) I’m very, very happy that I bought these. I don’t regret my purchases at all!
I like photographing them together, to be honest. They’re pretty in their own right, and incredibly pretty, separately. Together though, the Classic Spice BB with the Skull BB just fit so well together. Like Peas-in-a-pod, they say.
WHAT BOOK BEAU’s DID YOU BUY? — I bought the Classic – Spice, XL as well as the Skulls – Indie.
HOW DOES IT FIT? — They fit pretty well actually!
SKULL BB — SKULL BB fits my copy of A Darker Shade of Magic very well. I haven’t had time to see how my other books look in this one, but soon.
SPICE BB — SPICE BB was a little tight fit for the first book that I tried to pair it with. I use SPICE BB with my Hardcover copy of A Court of Thorns and Roses. The fit was pretty snug with the coverslip on. When I tried to put the elastic over the button on the front the elastic was somewhat squishing the They’re. WITHOUT the coverslip though, the book fit MUCH better. ACOTAR actually fit better without its coverslip. I could push the book down into the BB a little more, and the elastic-close closed so much more easily.
Now that I have my Book Beau’s I’m feeling a certain kind of freedom. I can go out and about with my books in my bag and not worry about them getting scratched or dented, or have any pages get bent!
I’m so happy with my purchase of the two bookbeau’s I purchased (with another on the way!). I don’t know when, but I’ll definitely be shopping from them again.
Do you have a Book Beau of your own?
Thank you for reading!
