October 2017 Wrap Up + Book Haul

Hello! Today’s post is my October 2017 Wrap Up + Book Haul!

IMG_5873October is one of the busier months for me personally. It’s busy because here in Canada we celebrate Thanksgiving on (or around) the 12th of October. Then it’s my birthday on the 25th (Two more years until my champagne birthday! Not that I’m going to drink, haha). After that, it’s Halloween!

In October I had 7 books on my TBR this month. Seven books is completely over ambitious for me, since I never really end up reading what I want to read. The books that were on my TBR this month were: The Ocean at the End of the Lane, by Neil Gaiman; Milk and Honey, by Rupi Kaur; Midnight at the Electric by Jodi Lynn Anderson; Shutter, by Courtney Alameda; Evil Librarian, by Michelle Knudsen; Labyrinth Lost, by Zoraida Córdova; and finally, The Madman’s Daughter, by Megan Shepherd.

Since it’s my birthday month, lets change up the usual style of this post and talk about the books I either bought, or received this month.

The Books I Acquired this October:

  • Apex (Hunter, #3) by Mercedes Lackey // via Amazon
  • Juneau to Kenai: (An Imp World Novella (Northern Wolves Book 1) by Debra Dunbar // via Amazon

  • The Empress (The Diabolic, #2) by S.J. Kincaid – ★★★★.5’s

* = re-read

This months TBR was a little difficult for me, since the majority of the books on my TBR were library books that I had maxed out the borrowing on (until I borrow the books again). I only ended up reading one book out of my total seven TBR books. I’m not worried about my unread TBR though.

I DNF’d a book this month. The book was called Evil Librarian by Michelle Knudsen. I don’t know what it was about that book. There were points in the story when it was interesting, but then the story would go back to being slow and boring. Also, the main character talks in her head a lot. More so than normal books? I just didn’t like it.

Thoughts from this October:

[10.01] I JUST FOUND OUT THAT APEX IS A THING?! HOW DID I JUST FIND OUT ABOUT THIS?? The Hunter trilogy is one of my favourites.

[10.18] it is a week until my birthday, and I have a freakin’ head cold.

[10.19] So, I ordered my first ever 2 OwlCrate boxes, and today my first one arrived, which is amazing! Hopefully I’m going to take pictures tomorrow. I AM SO EXCITED.

[10.24] My last first level Japanese Class ended today, and I’m mostly relieved. I enjoyed the class! I’m just tired of commuting to the big city for 2 hours one way.

[10.25] Woohoo! It’s my birthday! I had such a great time. I mostly stayed home, and had take-out food. My aunt and cousin came over and we all watched Halloweentown. All in all a great day.

[10.31] Happy Halloween to all who celebrate it!

Happy Reading!
