Hello reader/s! I hope you’re well! For a while now, I’ve been writing a weekly or bi-weekly post about books that are on my TBR. TBR, if you don’t know is the abbreviation for To Be Read. My goal here is to shed some light on books that I’ve otherwise forgotten about. These books could be books I’ve been meaning to read from the library, or books that have been collecting dust on my shelves at home. My goal though is to say a little about the book and also give a little reasoning of why I want to read them. In hopes of reading them sooner than later.
Todays books are both Young Adult books. One is in the Contemporary genre, while the other is in the Horror genre.
The first book I’m going to be talking about is the Horror novel. This book is called The Dead House by Dawn Kurtagich.
I’ve actually tried reading The Dead House before, not long after I finished reading And the Trees Crept In. I’ll say this: Dawn Kurtagich certainly has her own style of writing, that’s for sure. It took me a little bit to get used to her writing, and since I get the feeling that Kurtagich wants to emulate that spooky feel into her words… It’s going to take me a while to get into reading The Dead House.
The only reason why I have The Dead House on my TBR is that I’m interested in the main character, but I’m also wanting to know how the story ends. That being said, I have no idea if when I do get around to reading it, if I’ll actually be able to finish the book….or if I’ll end up DNF-ing The Dead House.
The second book, the YA Contemporary, is called The Sun Is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon.
To my understanding, The Sun Is Also a Star is a book with three different points of view (Natasha, and Daniel). In which both the characters fall in love with each other while one of the characters (Natasha) is in the other characters home country (Daniel). We also apparently have a point of view in the form of The Universe? I have no idea how this story (or the Universe’s POV) will pan out.
I haven’t read anything by Nicola Yoon yet, so I’m actually pretty excited to read The Sun Is Also a Star. I actually won the book in a giveaway that was on Goodreads. I was pretty surprised when I got the email saying that I had won! And what a pretty cover The Sun Is Also a Star has! — Nevertheless, I’m looking forward to what The Universe has in store for Natasha and Daniel.
Have you read either of these novels? If you have, did you enjoy them?
Happy Reading!
Adele
I’m excited to hear about what you think of The Sun is Also a Star! I have Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon on my TBR for this month! 🙂
