Library Reads #20

Library Reads: I’m a Library Lover, so these posts are where I document the books I’ve borrowed from libraries. I’ll tell you a little bit about what I expect from the book, or the author’s writings. Whether what I say is a sentence long, or a few sentence’s. From doing these posts, I hope to spread a little of my love for libraries, while also informing you of books that you may or may not have known of!

Finding Hope by Colleen Nelson

I pulled this off the shelves, and the synopsis of this book seems really well said. So basically, the main character wants to get away from her current situation; her brother is addicted to drugs, and the only thing that keeps her sane is writing poetry. She then gets into this presteigous school, and there all she wants to do is fit it, and she does. She gets friends, has a boyfriend… And then her brother shows up at her school and everyone turns on her. — which I find to be completely insane by the way. I’m nevertheless intrigued as to what happens, and how everything pans out.

Burn by Paula Weston

I currently have the third book out of the library. So when I saw this book (which I thought didn’t come out for another year, turns out the book was already published, the library just didn’t have it at the time. But now I have it, and I’m incredibly excited to read the rest of the series, but I’m also really worried, too. Like, what if the series ends badly??? I don’t want this story to end!!!!!

A Million Times Goodnight by Kristina McBride

I’ve actually had to review this book from netgalley, but that was in the early days of my reviewing, and I had no idea what I was doing on Netgalley. So now I try to get the books that I don’t have access to, through the libraries.. I’ve had to review this book for foreverrrrr, but now I finally have my hands on it, I can actually read it.

Firstlife by Gena Showalter

I actually first came across this book on Netgalley, but didn’t get to read it, which is totally fine because I have a ton of other Galley’s to read. So, I told myself that when it came in the library, I’d borrow and read it, because honestly, the book sounds amazing. I first talked about Firstlife in my Friday Finds post. I was excited about it then, and I’m excited about it now!!

Touch of Frost by Jennifer Estep

I actually borrowed the second book, and then requested this first book to be borrowed. Now I have both and I hope to read them soon! Something just drew me to these books at the library, so I hope they’re as good as I hope they are! (Second book: Kiss of Frost)

The Novice by Taran Matharu

I have no idea what this book is about except for that the main character can summon demons, and that there’s a war going on. …And that this book is not a stand alone. That, and the fact that he belongs to a village where they close their village doors at night …. so other things can’t get in?? The woods around his village are apparently dangerous. I’m actually really interested in this book because of the Fantasy theme the book has going on, and that the main character is male.

Death Marked by Leah Cypess

The first book to Death Marked is Death Sworn, and I enjoyed that book enough to want to read the second one. Even though I read on Goodreads from other people that this book, the ending, was a huge let down. Which is kinda upsetting, but I still want to read this story and see where it ends.

And I Darken by Kiersten White

I’ve heard all kinds of this about this book; yet I’ve heard nothing about this book at the same time. I have no idea how that could possibly be! Yet, I’m excited for the story line. My thoughts on this story before reading it is that I can tell that there’s going to be more than one point of view (I’m hoping there’s only one though). And that one of the main characters, Lada, is going to be kinda badass! There’re going to be many things going on in this book. All I can hope is that there’s going to be enough of a separation between the characters that I can easily decipher between story lines.

Legacy of Kings by Eleanor Herman

I’ve found this book thanks to the booklr community on tumblr. I didn’t really know what to think of this book before borrowing a copy, so I’m intrigued as to what happens. Just by reading the synopsis for this book, I can tell that there’s going to be definite drama in this plot. Which I have no idea if I’m looking forward to all that drama or not. There’s also a fantasy element to this book, which I’m excited for!

The Incident on the Bridge by Laura McNeal

I found this book via Netgalley, and I honestly cannot remember if I requested this book or not. I know that I don’t have it in my ‘galley files though. I remember reading that the synopsis for this book was very dramatic in the sense that I wasn’t sure if I would end up reading this book or not. Like, I didn’t want to drown in this books’ sorrows, if there were any. I’m just drawn to this book. I have no idea why. Whenever I get to reading The Incident on the Bridge, I hope to find out.

Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff

Once again I ran out of time reading this book. And from what I’ve read of the few pages I managed to read already, I can tell that this book is going to be simultaneously fast and slow. So I’ve taken Stormdancer out of the library in hopes of finishing it!

On The Edge by Edward St. Aubyn

I’m a sucker for pretty covers, and this book.. On The Edge has one of the most beautiful covers I’ve seen, I think, ever. That’s a pretty big statement to stand by, folks. I don’t really know what this On The Edge is about aside from what the quote says on the front of the book: “A scintillating, serious comedy by a brilliant novelist.” I hope I get to find out what it’s about!
