Hello reader/s! I hope you’re well today! For a while now, I’ve decided to have a weekly post about books that are on my TBR. TBR, if you don’t know is the abbreviation for To Be Read. My goal here is to shed some light on books that I’ve otherwise forgotten about. These books could be books I’ve been meaning to read from the library, or books that have been collecting dust on my shelves at home. My goal though is to say a little about the book and also give a little reasoning of why I want to read them.
I know I say this about almost every other TBR Tuesday post, but today’s books are a little different. For the fact that both of these books are Fiction, but they’re more “Adult-y.” Both books are in the Historical Fiction genre, and that in itself is a pretty good feat, since I don’t really like reading Historical Fiction at all.. Both of these books have really pretty covers, and I’m generally excited to read both stories.
The first book is a Historical Fiction novel, and I swear, the book cover is so pretty. Actually, both of these books I’m talking about today have really pretty covers. The second book I’m talking about is also a Historical Fiction novel, and both of these books are books that I’ve been wanting to read for a while now.
The Postmistress by Sarah Blake is the first book that I’ll be talking about.
The Postmistress is a Historical Fiction novel set in the 1940’s, in the World War II era. I don’t exactly read Historical Fiction. I mean, I do, but there’s usually fantasy themes imbedded into the story. For The Postmistress to be just a General Fiction novel, that’s a little daunting to me. I really hope that I don’t fall asleep while reading…
What I’m looking forward to is the fact that in the Goodreads synopsis there is a sentence that says: “Filled with stunning parallels to today’s world, The Postmistress is a sweeping novel about the loss of innocence of two extraordinary women-and of two countries torn apart by war.”
I can tell off the bat that there’re going to be two points of view, which is interesting since of the Historical Fiction books that I’ve read, there’s usually only one point of view.
Wherever this book may take me, I’m absolutely looking forward to reading this book. I’m incredibly interested to see how The Postmistress plays out. I’d really like to see how different the two points of views could be, and how they pertain to each other.
The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman is the second book I’ll be talking about.
I don’t remember how I got this book, but nevertheless, I have it, and the story is intriguing enough for me to keep it on my TBR.
I’m incredibly interested in this book since the setting takes place in Australia circa 1926. I actually started reading it and got the impression that I would enjoy it at a later date. However, that was a few years ago, so maybe I’ll get around to reading this soon! From reading a few pages, I can remember that after a few miscarriages, husband Tom, and wife, Isabel are tiring of getting their hopes up, only to lose the baby. When one day, a baby washes up on shore in a small boat. Literally. It appears though that the baby is unharmed, and there was no sight of the babies mother, so the couple took in the baby for themselves and decided to raise it.
That’s all as far as I got though, so I have no idea how the story ends.
That’s all for this post! I’m curious as to see if you’ve read either of these books? If you have did you like them? I’d love to know!! Thank you for reading!

The Postmistress sounds like it’ll be like The Historian by Elizabeth Kosova. I don’t know if you’ve read that, but I love historical fictions like that! Thanks for sharing!!
