May Book Haul & Wrap Up | 2016

Hello lovelies!! How was your May?? I hope all was well for you!

May was a weird month for me! I applied to a few jobs, and sadly, no one got back to me. That only meant that I had way more time to read. So I’m not complaining all that much, aha. May went by so quickly!!I read 15 books this month! There were also a lot of book reviews posted, a few Top 5 Wednesdays as per usual and a few TBR Tuesday’s.

So the books I reviewed this month vary from genre to genre. I’m finding that the books I’ve been interested in reading are starting to be more around my own age than anything young adult. Don’t get me wrong, I still read quite a bit of Young Adult. I’m just remembering more of the slightly older characters more interesting since they’re around my own age. I’m finding that I enjoy and appreciate their point of views.

I bought a few books this month as well! I haven’t splurged in a long time, and buying books this month felt really good. I ended up buying around 11 books this month. 3 books were e-books, and the rest were physical copies. I first bought A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas, and frankly, I’m so glad that I did!

A few weeks later I bought the 3 e-books I was talking about. The 3 e-books are Wicked by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I first borrowed and read Wicked from the library, but I ended up loving Wicked so much that after I remembered it existed, I bought it from Kobo for only $5! What a steal! And I’m laughing so much while re-reading it, just like I did the first time I read Wicked.

The second e-book I bought was Smut by Karina Halle. I haven’t bought a book from her in years. But since Smut is a stand alone, I figured, why not? The third e-book I bought was the second novel to Becoming Alpha, which is Avoiding Alpha.

The other books I bought were A Monster Called by Patrick Ness which I bought on a whim, so I hope I end up liking it! In A Handfull of Dust by Mindy McGinnis is a book that I haven’t read yet, because I haven’t yet read Not A Drop to Drink. I was waiting for In A Handful of Dust to come out first. So I hope I end up liking these books as well!

Gathering Darkness which is the third book to the Falling Kingdoms series by Morgan Rhodes and Michelle Rowen! I’ve been looking forward to reading Falling Kingdoms for a while now, so hopefully I can find time to sit down and read the first book.

Atlantia by Ally Condie, I bought because I thought that my mom might like it, and because well, I really enjoyed the ending. And I’m also slowly building the books that are siren and mermaid related. And since Atlantia is a stand alone, I thought that maybe my sister would like it as well. We have yet to see about that one!

The Last Star by Rick Yancey — I told myself that I wouldn’t buy this book. Seriously. I told myself that I didn’t need to buy it because firstly, the last book The Infinite Sea was a pretty big bust in my opinion, and secondly, because I didn’t want to have to buy a $25 book that I might not even like. I ended up buying The Last Star precisely because it was $5 off, and I didn’t want to have to wait to read it from the library.

The last two books I bought were The Vanishing Girl, and The Decaying Empire by Laura Thalassa. I’m so freaking happy that I have these two! I had to buy these offline from Chapters, actually, all the physical books I bought this month were bought from Chapters… Anyway! I’m so glad I bought these. I can’t wait to re-read the story! The third book still hasn’t come out yet. I don’t know what’s happening with the last book. But I am so excited nonetheless!

The books I read this month…

At the beginning of May, I re-read A Court of Thorns and Roses, because the second book, A Court of Mist and Fury came out on the 15th. I also read Unbreakable by Abby Reynolds, and, Edge of Disaster by A.M.Hargrove. One of those books I absolutely hated…you’ll find out which one on Friday.

I then started reading the Mercy Thompson series by Patrica Briggs! My local library has the books (except the 3rd book, which is weird!!). The first book is Moon Called, which I’ve reviewed. And then the second book is Blood Bound, which I’ve drafted a review of.

I also started another series and the series is called the Stage Dive series by Kylie Scott. The first book is Lick, which I read and reviewed. The second book is Play, which I’ve read and have drafted a review.

I also read Burning Glass by Kathryn Purdie, and By the Light of the Moon by Jody Vaughn which I don’t know if I’ll review because that book has me all over the place. I read Haze by Paula Weston. Haze is the second book in The Rephaim saga. I’ve drafted my review of Haze as well.

I finished reading a series this month! I feel like that’s a huge accomplishment, since I didn’t really like the first book in the trilogy…but the rest of the books were okay, with the last book being my favourite of the three. The series I finished this month was the Something Strange and Deadly trilogy by Susan Dennard. I honestly never thought that I would be able to finish the series, but I believe that I read A Darkness Strange and Lovely (the second book) and Strange and Ever After (the third book) in one night! — I still have to review the third, and last book.

I re-read a few books as well! As I mentioned above, that I had re-read A Court of Mist and Fury.. I’m finding that I’m struggling with reviewing any of Sarah J. Maas’ books. Like, all of them. Which is really weird? This never usually happens to me. But I’m slowly working my way through this!

The second book I re-read was Far From You by Tess Sharpe. I loved this book the first time I read it, and now that I’ve read it again, I can say that I still enjoyed it, but I wasn’t left in awe as I was the first time I read Far From You.

The third book I re-read this month was The Wrath & The Dawn by Renee Ahdieh. Hopefully now that I’ve re-read the book I can actually try to review it! There were a few things that I absolutely hated about this book, and I plan to talk a little more about it in my  review.

The books I reviewed this month are:

There were also a few Top 5 Wednesday’s, and a few TBR Tuesday’s.

There were 5 TBR Tuesday’s this month!

I even did a tag that I completely forgot about! The Totally Should’ve Book Tag!!

If you’ve managed to read this far into my May Wrap Up, then thank you so much!! Even if you just skimmed over everything, thank you! I hope you all have a great rest of your day!
