Book Theme Songs | Top 5 Wednesday #18

Hello lovelies! Today’s post is about Book Theme Songs. More specifically, “Songs you associate with different books, whether it’s because of the lyrics matching the story, the tone fits the story, or just because you listened to it a lot while reading that particular book!” so this is what I’m here to do!

This post will include spoilers for the following books: Zodiac by Romina Russell, The Girl from the Well by Rin Chupeco, Heir of Fire & Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas, A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas, in that order.

I have a huge love for this novel, even though I’ve only read it once so far. There’s a part in this novel, when Rho is in that space thing, where she can see all of the Galaxy. I forget what it’s called but the song that I have in mind for that scene is Time by Hans Zimmer. I just feel like the song fits the mood really well; in the way that Rho was in a sense of the word, expanding her senses.

If you’ve read this book, then you know what I’m talking about when I say Okiku is one badass chica. The song The Devil Within by Digital Daggers just suits Okiku perfectly when she does her thing. I hope you know what I’m talking about when I say “her thing” because it’s literally so creepy that I still get little shivers when I think of these scenes.

The scene (and song) that I’m talking about for Heir of Fire is when Aelin is fighting the Valg to protect the little town that has welcomed her so openly (at least in their own way…). When I heard this song after reading Heir of Fire, I’d gotten a flashback of Aelin fighting the Valg. She’s almost run out of her magic stores, and Rowan is freaking out and when they become carranam, and agghhhh, the feels!! The song that I’m talking about is Archangel by Two Steps From Hell.

The scene that I think of when I hear Caesar’s Home by Patrick Doyle, is when Aelin is going back to Rifthold. There’s a certain magic to the song. A certain je ne sais quoi to the song that I can’t put my finger on. When I hear the song, I feel like I’m Aelin, and not only am I going to kick some ass when I get back to the Rifthold, but I’m going to be so lethal that I’m going to burn the city to the ground and build it back up again.

I love Rhysand, and I love Feyre. The two of them go through a lot in ACOMAF. I love ’em both to death. The song that I think of when I think of the two of them is Glowing in the Dark by The Girl & The Dreamcatcher. This song really isn’t about any scene in the book, but rather a song about their relationship through my eyes.

Those are some songs that I’ve ascribed to these books. Sometimes they fit, sometimes they don’t! I have fun with songs and books though.

What are some songs that you’ve put to books? I’d love to know! — Thank you for reading!

I love associating songs with books! It combines my 2 favorite things. 🙂

Kickin’ In by Adam Lambert is forever and always associated with Divergent for me. The part of the song that goes “can you feel it kickin’ in” reminds me of the aptitude test in book one with the injection. I was also listening to the CD (Trespassing) that the song is on on repeat so the other songs remind me of the series to a lesser extent.
