Hello reader/s! I hope today treats you well! Today is my sister’s birthday, and it’s the last day of May! And it’s supposed to be super duper hot out, which I’m not looking forward to, but what I am looking forward to is the sun, and the books in this post!
The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins is a book that I have heard much about. And now there’s even going to be a movie? I have to get on to reading this book quickly if I’m going to see the movie!
So I know by looking at this books’ Goodreads page, that the theme of this novel is a Psychology/Mystery novel. I actually came across The Girl on the Train in a used book store and snatched it up!
The premise of this novel is that the main character, Rachelle, has a boring life and that the train she takes everyday lets her make up stories about other peoples lives. Which is honestly something that I would definitely do.. And then one day Rachelle sees something that’s not so particular to her everyday routine, so she decides to go to the police and thus causes a ton of problems not only for herself, but the people involved in the investigation.
I don’t usually like adult mystery novels. They tend to be tacky and I just can’t get into reading them. I have way better luck with Young Adult Mystery novels. Which leads me to the second book of this post!
Welcome to the Dark House by Laurie Faria Stolarz is a book I came across when I was looking through the shelves at a library. I wasn’t really looking for this book, but I know I wanted to read a scary novel. And then I read the books description and found that Welcome to the Dark House is not only a thriller novel, but a mystery novel as well!
The first sentence in the books description is “What’s your worst nightmare?” and then goes into introducing the main character and what is expected of this book. Which is facing your fears with seven other people who have also come to face their fears, until someone starts up some trouble. Soon the kids realize that the hostess is a serial-killer look-alike, and the seventh member of their group is missing.
I took this puppy home with me, and have been waiting to read it ever since, aha. I am looking forward to reading this book though. I hope I’ll get freaked out and have to turn a light on to sleep!! I expect Welcome to the Dark House to have the movie Saw feel to it.
Those are the two books I have for today’s TBR Tuesday post! Have you heard of either of these books before? Are you going to read them? Have you read them? Let me know if you have!
Thank you for reading!
Adele
