Favorite Mothers/Maternal Figures | Top 5 Wednesday #13

Hello lovelies! This week’s post is about Favorite Mothers/Maternal Figures!

I’ve thought long and hard about this post, and since I most primarily read Young Adult, aka, ages 13 to 17-18 years old, that means trying to come up with Favourite Mothers /slash/ Maternal Figures is truly difficult! And quite odd seeing as how I’m a few years older than these characters. Not to worry though, I think I’ve got a few picked out. Whether they’re the main character, or a side character. It was odd trying to pick out one, let alone five. I’ve managed to pick one though, so let’s see if I managed to think of anymore characters.

Tana from The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Laini Taylor. Tana is a fierce, fierce girl, and she loves her sister dearly. Therefore, whenever danger and her younger sister mix together, Tana flares up like a lioness, mama-bear, to protect her. There for, Tana is my number one.

Emrys from Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas is a Maternal Figure that I’d want as a dad. Honestly. Emrys is caring and totally there for you, even when you don’t want or need it. He’s totally reliable and gah, I adore him so much!! I sincerely hope we see him again in Empire of Shadows.

Reena Montero is a young mother in the book How to Love by Katie Cotungo. I read this book a few years ago and I totally forgot that Reena Montero was a mom! Reena is great with her kid. Very loving, and protective, especially to certain people.

There aren’t many Mother or Maternal Figures out there that I would want as my own maternal parent. These are the three that I’ve come up with that I would be so grateful to have.

Thanks for reading! I hope you have a great rest of your day and/or night.

My favorite maternal figure in YA is Savil from The Last Herald Mage trilogy by Mercedes Lackey. She’s very tough and brusque, but she loves Vanyel unreservedly and she’s not afraid to let him know it.

Thanks for another great post! I really love your Top 5 Wednesdays!

I love Molly Weasley! She’s such a sweet mom! On the same topic, Narcissa Malfoy is another favorite! Sure, she’s not shown in the best light, but she knew Harry had protected Draco so much, that she saved him and i think that’s really big of her, considering what she and her family stood for and what Harry stood for! 🙂
