‘Sometimes discovering the truth can leave you more hopeless than believing the lies…
That’s what seventeen-year-old Sky realizes after she meets Dean Holder. A guy with a reputation that rivals her own and an uncanny ability to invoke feelings in her she’s never had before. He terrifies her and captivates her all in the span of just one encounter, and something about the way he makes her feel sparks buried memories from a past that she wishes could just stay buried.
Sky struggles to keep him at a distance knowing he’s nothing but trouble, but Holder insists on learning everything about her. After finally caving to his unwavering pursuit, Sky soon finds that Holder isn’t at all who he’s been claiming to be. When the secrets he’s been keeping are finally revealed, every single facet of Sky’s life will change forever.’
Yet another book by Colleen Hoover that has drew me in from the start. I have no idea how Hoover manages to do this. Her writing is totally gripping, leaving me unable to stop reading until I’ve completely finished the book. The way that Colleen portrays these characters….the plot, the emotions, everything in just one word? Intense.
The two main characters; Sky and Dean, both have secrets. Both have pasts; and they both have secrets that neither of them want to talk about. When they inevitably grow closer, feelings get more and more intense and suddenly they cant ignore their feelings anymore. They still have problems. As all relationships do. This book though, Hopeless is the first book that has gripped me this way. I literally, could not put this down. Couldn’t put it down at all. It was crazy. I had this innate need to finish reading the book, to find out what happened.
I never would have guessed the twists and turns the story took. Maybe thats what kept me interested.. This may be cheesy but, I was really only seeing this all through Sky’s eyes. I mean that I couldn’t see what would happen beyond a few pages.
Hopeless has more than what Ive described to you. When it all comes down to what this book really is, its about revealing secrets, uncovering ones brutal past and starting anew.
Here you can find Hopeless on GoodReads.
